Hamilton

Rise Up!      Let's discuss the hit musical sweeping the nation: Hamilton. With the release of the pro-shoot this past July, the popularity of this historical musical has shot up. Although this musical has been performing for years, I have not had the opportunity to view it, so this review will be about the film version featuring the OBC.      Hamilton focuses on the life and legacy of the first Treasury Secretary of the United States, Alexander Hamilton. It's a coming-of-age tale filled with love, loss, despair, and hope. With rap-music intertwined with pop tracks and intense ballads, Hamilton spans many genres, appealing to many fans. Without further ado, let's discuss: Hamilton.  hamiltonmusical.fandom.com Disney+ Watching on Disney+ History     Hamilton was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the book, music, and lyrics for the show. Hadestown

Way Down Hadestown!      I hope you're ready for tale of love and loss. Hadestown is centered around the legendary Greek myth of lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, with added attention to the struggling marriage of gods Hades and Persephone. Narrated by the Greek god Hermes, the plot of Hadestown is driven by the 3 Fates, who influence and manipulate the actions and thoughts of the characters. Whether or not you know the Greek legend and the way it ends, the show is an incredibly moving and powerful adaptation, with a overarching message of hope: hope that things may work out, hope that you can make a change, hope that not everything is inevitable. History     Hadestown was written by Ana ï s Mitchell and first premiered in 2006 in Vermont, and ceased performance in 2007. Mitchell released an album version of Hadestown in 2010. In 2012, Mit...

SIX

Divorced! Beheaded! LIVE!      Time to talk about everyone's favorite ladies: The Queens of SIX! Grace and I have been listening to the soundtrack non-stop, so I felt like this show was the purr-fect one for this week's critique. SIX follows the individual stories of the wives of King Henry the VIII of England, in the form of a one-act pop concert. Not only does this show have some incredibly catchy tunes, but the overall message is beautiful and needs to be shared with the world. Enjoy!  blog.headout.com                                              SIX on Broadway History      Writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss teamed up to create a musical based on the six wives of King Henry VIII of England. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Any Dream Will Do!      This week I decided to post my thoughts about Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, an incredible musical about the Biblical story of Joseph, his brothers, Egypt, and of course, his technicolor dreamcoat. This musical is not currently on Broadway, so this review will be about the 1999 film version.  playbill.com  imbd.com History Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (let's call it Joseph  from now on) premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1972 before making its West End debut in 1973. Joseph made its official Broadway debut in 1983, with a lot of success, which prompted a national tour ( Wikipedia ) . In 1999, a film adaptation was released, starring Donny Osmond as Joseph and Maria Friedman as the Narrator. A recording of the Original Canadian cast album was released in 1994 ( Barnes & Noble). Who's in the Cast? Donny Osmond had played the role of Joseph in both the Toronto and national tour...
