Mean Girls

You Can't Sit With Us!      It's time to analyze the Broadway adaptation of the hit movie Mean Girls. In true Mean Girls fashion, and in the words of Gretchen Wieners, I would certainly comment on how totally "fetch" the musical was, but I will not be making dog puns on my cat site! I will, however, give great props to Mean Girls. I've watched the movie version with Grace many many times, and we are very large fans, so I had high expectations when I went to see this musical. I knew there was a paw-sibility it would not be what I was expecting , but I was certainly not disappointed. Let's get right into it! Both the movie and the musical were written by Tina Fey. Mean Girls debuted on Broadway in April of 2018, at the August Wilson Theatre, and is still performing today (COVID-19 shutdown as...

Beetlejuice: The Musical

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!      Let's pounce right in! I saw Beetlejuice in January. Unfortunately, this stellar show is now closed indefinitely, but I was fur-tunate enough to witness the incredible talents of Sophia Anne Caruso and Alex Brightman before the unhappy closure of Broadway. The musical version focused heavily on Lydia, and how she is dealing with the passing of her mother. The set crew still wanted to bring the eerie and ghostly world of Tim Burton to the stage, so many icons from the original movie can be found in the theater, including the iconic black a...

Guide!

Who am I? Mom took these pictures of me blogging. I want you to know what  your writer looks like!  How does this work? Here's a little guide for some things I may say where the meaning may not always be clear. Please refer back to this guide as necessary, and if you have questions, leave them in the comments and I will do my best to get back to you quickly! OBC = Original Broadway Cast Rating scales =  range from 1 to 5, 1 being "did not meet standards," 5 being "exceeded standards," and 3 being the basic standard. Cat rating = based off of how many cats are in the play, the presence of cats in the play, the necessity of cats in the play, and if adding a cat to the play would have improved it Best song/actor/set = all my personal opinion!  The history section will not be too long, as the purpose is to inform you of my personal thoughts of each performance.
